LearnSmart Names Army Captain, Brian Bashara, as Head of Government, Military and Department of Defense Training Division
Tampa, Florida - October 17, 2011 - LearnSmart Systems has appointed retired military Captain Brian Bashara to lead the IT training company's Government, Military and Department of Defense Sales Department. As head of the department, Bashara will spearhead the company's initiatives in many military and government compliance programs, most notably the Department of Defense Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program. This program, as illustrated by Department of Defense Directive 8570.1, is intended to improve the security of the United States national data and technology by requiring all individuals with privileged access to a DoD Information System (IS) to be professionally trained and hold viable certifications for those positions. In his role as department head, Bashara will lead a team dedicated to identifying enlisted and private contractors with compliance challenges and enabling those contractors to become compliant through counseling, training and certification.

Brian Bashara is the recipient of two Army Commendation Medals for valor and service, including the Purple Heart, as well as multiple combat and campaign awards. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 2005 after being wounded while serving in Kabul, Afghanistan. Bashara feels that his experience helped him understand the importance of job training and skill development on an intimate level. “Training was vital in my experience in the military because it provided structure that was imperative, not only in developing and executing plans, but carrying out daily operations," said Bashara. "The training I received was crucial to every task that I completed and ensured that I was prepared to protect the lives of my men and those around us."
