Is LearnSmart software available on CD or only via digital download?
Both LearnSmart practice exams and audio are available via digital download immediately upon purchase. By doing this, we are able to offer better prices than our competitors. In addition, we allow you to download from our servers at any time, making a physical copy virtually unnecessary. Many people need to reformat their computers often as they experiment with different technologies making this privilege extremely helpful. In the Product Delivery email you receive shortly after checkout, you will find the links you need to download your LearnSmart Practice Exams. Each of our full exams is approximately 6.5 MB – 8MB. Audio files range from 50MB -260MB depending on the title.

Can I install LearnSmart software on more than one computer?
Often certification seekers need to study in multiple locations (i.e. at work and at home) so we do allow you to install LearnSmart software on multiple computers. However, our license agreement is very strict in its limitation of use by you and only you. Under the terms of our Single User License Agreement, you may not operate LearnSmart on more than one computer at a time. You may also not share our software with others in any fashion. You would not want to install our software on a work computer where others can access and use the software. This would be a violation of our License Agreement. Those points aside, you may operate our software in a way that allows you to study efficiently. When registering LearnSmart software on a second computer, all information must match exactly with registration information used the first time.

How do I ensure that I have the latest exam updates on my LearnSmart software?
When new updates are available, LearnSmart software automatically receives the update when you open the software (you must be connected to the internet for this to occur). You may also check manually for updates from within LearnSmart's test engine by going to the Help menu and selecting Check for Free Auto-Updates.

How long do I have to use my voucher before it expires?

When will I receive my exam voucher?
Your voucher will be provided to you via email once your purchase has been approved and you have provided your completed Credit Card Authorization form. In order to protect ourselves and our customers against credit card fraud, LearnSmart requires customers who make a voucher purchase to submit a Credit Card Authorization form approving of their purchase. Once you have submitted your Credit Card Authorization form (which is required to fulfill all voucher purchases) you will receive your voucher code in a separate e-mail. You can download the form, as well as instructions on where to send it, from the links in your Product Delivery e-mail. Please note that voucher orders will not be fulfilled until we receive a completed and fully legible Authorization form for your purchase. You will typically receive your voucher within four (4) hours after submitting your form. Authorization forms for voucher purchases received during the weekend, holidays, or other non-business hours will be fulfilled the following business day. I have not received my product. Can you reship?
If LearnSmart makes a mistake that results in your package not being delivered, we will reship your order immediately. However, customers will be responsible for paying reshipment fees if they provided LearnSmart with an incorrect address or if the mailing address is deemed by the carrier as "Undeliverable."
Attention International Customers: Some countries are historically problematic for timely delivery due to local customs processing. It is your responsibility to choose a shipping method that will reach you in a timely manner. We also recommend that you contact your local customs office before placing an order to find out the processing time for packages coming in to your country. If your package is lost or does not reach you in the desired time frame, it will be your responsibility to pay for all reshipping fees.

When I try to register my license key, I receive a "software is already registered to another user" error.
Our license agreement allows you to install and use the product on up to two computers (typically home/work or desktop/laptop). Please ensure that you use the same registration information you entered when you first installed your product when installing and registering the product on your second pc. If you do not enter the information exactly the same, your software will give you the "software has already been registered to another user" error. I’m trying to login to my LearnSmart account. Why is my email not recognized?
A user account is not created automatically when purchasing but instead is done during the Checkout process if the customer so chooses. My license key will not work. What do I do?
License keys can be lengthy at times and sometimes a mis-typed character can occur. Typically, it is best to copy and paste the license key from your confirmation email into the exam engine where requested. You will also want to make sure that there are no extra spaces at the beginning or end of the key, as extra spaces will give you an error. Finally, you will want to make sure that you are installing the program on a computer that is connected to the Internet, as the license key must be validated with our remote server. A firewall or proxy server can also sometimes block the program from authenticating the product. LearnSmart products use Port 80 to communicate with our server, so make sure that this port is open. If you are still unable to unlock your LearnSmart software using the key you were sent, please contact us through our Customer Service Ticket system. Start a Ticket.

I get a run-time error when trying to install LearnSmart software. What do I do?
LearnSmart uses InstallShield, the industry standard for software installation, to install the necessary files on your computer. You may be running an application during installation that is using a file that InstallShield needs to update. Unfortunately, Windows will not allow this file to be updated (installed) while it is being used by another application and InstallShield must move on. When you try to run the software, it needs this updated file but it was never installed and you receive this run-time error.
Solution: Uninstall LearnSmart from your computer. Close all open applications and reboot your computer. Before opening any additional programs, install LearnSmart. You should be able to run LearnSmart now. Many times this error will occur when the InstallShield is trying to install Microsoft.net Framework 2.0 x86. You can download this free installation at the Microsoft website.

Can I install and run LearnSmart Practice Exams on a mapped drive or remote server?
LearnSmart Practice Exams must be installed on a local disk drive. If you attempt to install the software on a remote server or mapped drive, the software will fail. Please uninstall and reinstall the software on a local drive to resolve this issue.

What port does the practice exam software use when checking for and installing updates?

Why is LearnSmart trying to access the internet?
LearnSmart connects to the internet for two reasons. First, the system automatically checks the LearnSmart servers for software updates. This ensures that you're using the latest version of our software. Second, LearnSmart's software must be authenticated to ensure security and functionality of the product. If you are connected to the internet, the software can authenticate automatically without any action on your part. If your computer is online and you received a message telling you that you need to authenticate, you may need to adjust your Windows Firewall or other personal firewall settings. Your software will make an attempt to connect to our servers each time it is run.

How do I authenticate my product if I do not have access to the internet?
If you are unable to connect to the internet, you can manually authenticate your product by visiting www.learnsmartsystems.com/commerce/dmd/getauthcode.aspx from a computer that connects to the Internet. Here you will need to input your license key and then click submit. You will be given a text file that contains your authentication code. Bring the file to your computer and open it by clicking the Open Authentication Code button from the software. Follow the instructions on your screen to complete authentication.

I have tried installing my LearnSmart Video Training and I am getting a "Codebase Error" when I try to run the CD by clicking on the LearnSmart Icon on my desktop. What do I do?
This error indicates the database files have been corrupted. The installed files need to be deleted and reinstalled. When you install the software you will want to make sure you are logged in as the local ADMINISTRATOR as this is the only way that all of the files will correctly install. Many times customers will log in with their username because it has administrative privileges; however, this will not allow proper installation. You must log in as the local ADMINISTRATOR to successfully install. Make sure that the LearnSmart Video training is installed on the C: drive. The LearnSmart program MUST be installed to the following filepath in order for the program to work correctly: C:/LearnSmart/LearnSmart. If you have followed these steps and are still receiving the error, please contact us via our ticket system for technical support. Be sure to include your order number.

I have tried to install my LearnSmart Video Training and I am getting the following error "To install this course,….,requires Administrator privileges, which you do not have." What does this mean?
You must be a local ADMINISTRATOR on your computer in order to install the LearnSmart Video Training software. Many times customers will log in with their username because it has administrative privileges or is a part of an administrative group; however, this will not allow proper installation. You need to adjust your video acceleration on your computer:
To ensure that the video driver works properly, please follow the instructions below:

- Click on the Advanced button

I have installed my LearnSmart Video Training and I have noticed that the video is choppy and the video stream seems to be interrupted frequently. What do I do?
You need to adjust your hardware acceleration on your computer:
Windows 2000/XP
- Click on "Start -> Settings -> Control Panel"
- Click on your "Display" icon
- Click on the "Settings" tab
- Click on "Advanced" at the bottom
- Click on the "Troubleshoot" tab

- Click Start in the lower left corner of Windows Vista.
- Click Control Panel, click Appearance and Personalization, click Personalization, click Display Settings, and then click Advanced Settings.
- Click the Troubleshoot tab, and then click Change Settings.
- Note: Change Settings will be disabled if the graphics card drivers do not support disabling hardware acceleration.
- Move the Hardware Acceleration slider until it is one notch to the right of None. This is the basic acceleration setting.
- Click OK twice, and then close the window.

Now that I’m logged in, how does my Training Library work?
Using your Training Library is easy. Your Library Control Panel allows you to choose the training you want to use, access your training and then get more training when you’re done. This process of "choosing, using, and choosing again" is called a "swap." The "Get More Training" section has a list of the titles that are available for you to check out. The "My Current Training" section shows the swap you currently have checked out.

How do "swaps" work?
Choosing a training title to add to your active library is called a "swap." By default, most Training Libraries allow you to have one swap checked out at a time. You may keep the training from your swap for as long or as short as you like. When you’re done with your training, you may "retire" that swap and choose another.
By default, Ultimate Access users have three swaps per 30 day period. An easy way to think of it is like this: once you use a swap, you'll get that swap back 30 days later. For example, if you use a "swap" on March 2nd, you will get it back on April 2nd. For your convenience, we include the date your next swap becomes available in the "My Library Plan" details portion of your library.

What if I run out of swaps?
If you have 0 swaps remaining, you'll receive another swap on the "Next Swap Available" date. You'll still retain access to all of the products in "My Current Training."

Can I keep using my training after it's been retired?
No. All access codes and license keys expire once you retire a swap. You may keep the training from your swap in your library for as long as you like, so only retire a title when you're really done with it.

Choose your training type from the "My Current Training" tab. Video Training will be at the top of the list of available products. On the right hand side click on "View Online" to go to our Online Video Training home where you will be able to select and view your Online Video Training. Can I change the format of training that I have chosen?
The format of your training can't be changed once you've finished your selection. The only way to choose a different media type would be to retire your title and re-select that title with a different media type.

This error is most commonly caused by a Javascript conflict with Internet Explorer. Please press Ctrl + F5 on your keyboard to perform a reset of your browser that will refresh your page and resolve the issue.

I have Ultimate Access and I'm unable to activate a practice exam that I have added to my library and downloaded. How can I activate that practice exam?
This may occur if you've previosly purchased a practice exam from LearnSmart. To activate your practice exam, follow these steps:
- Open the Practice Exam program
- Click "Help"
- Click "About LearnSmart Practice Exams"
- Click the "Reset" button to reset the Access Code
- Enter the Access Code for your practice exam (found in the online control panel) to authenticate your product

How do I get my training shipped to me and pay for the shipping costs?
Once you have selected a title to add to your library, some of our training products are available to be shipped on disc. On the 'Confirm Swap' Page, products with other available formats will have a blue "Available Formats" link to the right of each product. Click "Available Formats” to see which media are available and to choose your media type if you would like a product shipped to you (shipping charges apply to shippable media). Make sure all of the media types are set to your specifications before clicking the "Finish" button, as this will use your swap. Once you have clicked finish click on the link 'Shipping Details' under the "My Current Training" tab to pay for the shipping costs. You will receive a confirmation e-mail when your order has shipped.

Where are my Access Codes for my LearnSmart DVD/Practice Exam?
Access Codes that are needed to unlock software are found in your Control Panel under the "My Current Training" tab. Click the link that says "Access Code" next to the relevant product in order to display it.
